How To get High SAT score(Digital SAT)
How am I qualified to advise you on this topic?
We need atleast 3 months to prepare for the SAT no mattter how good we think we are at Math or English.
Everybody needs certain amount of time in order to get familiar with the format and question type of the standardized test.
After you make sure that you have atleast 3 months to prepare for the SAT, book a date as soon as possible near your home location
This will create a sense of urgency, which will force you to study.
Download Bluebook and test yourself with one of the 4 practice tests. Doing this will give you a score to begin with, and you can set a reasonable target to attain in the coming 3 months. You have to do the mock test in a controlled environment without any distractions or cheat materials in order to simulate the real test. For example, when I gave my first SAT mock test in September 13, 2023 I got 1190, so I set my goal to attain 1300+ score in the final SAT exam.
After doing a practice mock test, you will know your strong and weak points and you can improve on them as the time passes.
Most People Struggle at Reading and Writing Section of the SAT-so did I. In order to gain an excellent score in this section we need extreme level of patience and practice
Tip- Save your Bluebook mock test as you will need this in the future
Instead use other source materials to practice for it. One difficulty that you are going to face if you are giving the digital SAT is that there are very few official practice materials, and we be need to skeptical when it comes to unofficial materials from various publishes as only few of them resemble the type of question and format used in the actual SAT
I used
1. Erica L Meltzer's - Reading Book - and - Grammar Book - Grammar book is the best in my opinion
2. The princeton review new 2024 digital SAT guide book - I would only recommed reading section as the tactics were really helpful for me.
3. Test Ninja SAT prep book - It has bunch of practice test, but the format used in the questions are not accurate. Use it only for practicing and improving your reading skills
4. Vibrant Publishers Book- A lot of questions and materials. Despite having inaccurate format, it will improve your comprehension skills
5. cracksat.net - excellent place to practice and it has a excellent interface - pro tip: use adblocker and disable javascript- it will save you a lot of trouble
6. Cartoon Vocabulary For SAT books
7. SAT Blackbook - Though it is about the old SAT, it has outstanding advises, which helped me a lot
8. Khan Academy - khanacademy.org/digital-sat - attain mastery over all the courses - watch all the videos - juice all the resources from this source as all of the materials are official and authentic and they accurately resemble the type of question you will see in the SAT
Try to get as many badges as possible
9. Youtube Channels I'd recommend - Hayden Rhodea, Seberson Method, John Jung, Math with Jizu
After you complete using all of these resources for Reading and writing section
10. Use Barron's Math Book, this is the only unofficial material that I used - rarely- because the quantity of questions available on Khan Academy is more than enough. It also contains crucial explanations and concepts to tackle Math problems
11. PSAT - though it's slightly easier, you'll get one extra set of official practice materials
Okay, After you complete using up all of these resources now we need to test ourselves more, so use other Bluebook Mock tests one by one. Once you complete these test, you can and you must review your all your answers, especially your mistakes. You have to analyze all of your mistakes in detail and learn from them so that you wouldn't repeat them in the future. After you complete all of your SAT tests, you will have the confidence and a bit of experience to face the real SAT
I would also advise you to make (smart) friends, who share same aim as yours. They will help you a lot to maintain your mental health and boost your morale. It'll also help you to stay entertained in the process of enlightenment. Furthermore, they will help you to understand the concepts that you can't on your own
If you have the time, you can go to Test Prep Classes. Not Mandatory, but it will surely help you in the long run. Doing this will force you to study for certain amount of time everyday.
How to prepare for the test day
1. Starting from 2 weeks preceding the test, make a habit of waking up early at 6:30 AM as you'll have to arrive at your testing location very early in the morning
2. Give as many practice test as possible using the materials above to get used to feeling of stress in the exam environment
3. Drink adequate amount of water to use 100% of your brain energy - But not too much as you'll only get a 10 minute break
4. Revise all the concepts on the last day
4. Get atleast 8 hours of sleep
6. Avoid stress, as you can always give another SAT in case you are'nt satisfied with your score
To all the Test Takers, BEST of LUCK
Remember it's 20% Luck and 80% Work
